So here are my own two cents (or so) about Light Yagami & the death note I legit just had an itch to scratch and this may help me later if I finally write a DN fic.
There seems to be some kind of line between people thinking that everything Kira is
came from him because he was “a sociopath” prior to finding the death note (I’ll get to why I can’t take anyone using the word sociopath seriously later); and you have other, thinking the death note is to blame for everything & thinking like Light was only another victim.
I guess I’m going put myself with the ones in the middle ground here and threw some words in a messy way that probably doesn’t really make sense but here is to trying.
(I personally don’t believe in good or evil as absolute, so I don’t think Light is evil and not even Kira is evil & I’m fundamentally a morally grey & I empathize with both L and Light point of view tho I think ultimately both are quite vain
First of I don’t think of Kira as some kind of split personality monster
that came solely from the Death Note, but I also don’t think Light would have become Kira without the Death Note and Ryuk
. I do think there is something like a corruption happening to Light, even if he is not possessed nor manipulated, the question of whether he is in control of the power of the death note or used as well by it’s power is something I find relevant...
As a matter of fact I usually think of Kira as a symbiosis
– Kira comes from Light and from the death note, it doesn’t exist if either one of the two is missing. I also believe that the manga version of Light, the anime one and the drama one are quite coherent as being the same person in different universes, with slightly different background – the only one I find fully out of character and a completely different person is the one from the movies.
So here goes nothing! At the base of Light personality for me, at the very beginning of Kira, I would put two things: 1.Light is fake as hell and mostly unaware of that fact & 2.he is seventeen when it starts.( ❝Let me tell you what I do know: I am more than one thing, and not all of those things are good.❞Collapse )
